Stone Temple Pilots & Chester Bennington

Soon after joining Stone Temple Pilots on stage for a surprise performance at this weekend’s annual KROQ Weenie Roast, Chester Bennington was confirmed as the new vocalist of STP. Classic hits were performed together, plus new song ‘Out Of Time’ – which can be heard via the link below.

Hearing Chester Bennington sing Out Of Time is a refreshing change compared to his usual vocals for Linkin Park. While his screams and unique soulful vocals have become his trademark, the grunge-style seems to suit his voice much more due to the relaxed and natural feel of the song.

Interviewed outside after their set, Chester and the rest of STP spoke of a new album, setting up a tour, and how the new line-up wasn’t planned until a month before.

Chester also spoke of Linkin Park, and how all the members support each other in their own projects, as well as Linkin Park always being his top priority, but he is still going to put in all his effort with Stone Temple Pilots.

He was quoted as saying he is “like a child”, and a “greedy fucking bastard”, referring to the fact he is in both Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots.

The interview ended with the band making a joke about former lead singer Scott Weiland, and Chester giving praise to Scott.
